The SenseUp Approach Course
Where Neuroscience Meets Everyday Practice
Bringing OTs Back to the Science So Families Get the Expert Support They Deserve
Here's what we know about you:
You didn't become an OT to feel uncertain. You became one to transform lives. Yet somehow, despite years of training and genuine care for your clients, sensory integration feels like this mysterious puzzle where you're missing crucial pieces.
That nagging voice of uncertainty whispers: "Am I doing this right? Is this actually working? How do I explain this to parents who've 'googled everything'?"
You've probably experienced that sinking feeling when:
😟 A parent asks why their child needs certain sensory input and you struggle to explain it in ways that truly resonate
😟 Your beautifully planned intervention doesn't seem to generalise to functional change
😟 You're working with complex presentations and feel like you're flying blind
😟 Funding bodies question the evidence for your sensory approaches
😟 You catch yourself avoiding certain sensory cases because you lack confidence
💔 But here's the bigger problem: Parents are left Googling how to help their own children because we, as their child's OT, haven't equipped them with the specific, science-based understanding they desperately need.
But imagine this instead...
Picture Yourself Walking Into Work Tomorrow Morning
At 8:30 AM: You receive a complex referral, an autistic child with sensory processing challenges, anxiety, and a history of trauma. Instead of that familiar flutter of uncertainty, you feel a calm confidence. You know exactly how to support this child through a trauma-informed, neuroscience-based lens.
During your assessment: You use your keen observation skills to understand the neurobiological story unfolding before you. You see how this child's unique sensory processing patterns impact their functional participation. You recognise the nervous system arousal patterns and know precisely what to suggest to the family for how to create nervous system safety first.
When meeting with parents: You speak their language. You explain how their child's sensory processing challenges aren't deficits to fix, but neurobiological differences to understand and support. You share the neuroscience in ways that empower rather than overwhelm. Parents leave feeling hopeful and equipped - no more desperate Google searches at 2am.
In your intervention: Every activity has purpose backed by evidence. You're not just providing sensory input, you're systematically building from nervous system safety through to occupational participation and self-determination. Each session builds on the last with clear clinical reasoning. The SenseUp Model™ 360 forms the backbone of your plan.
By 4:00 PM: You complete your documentation with confidence, knowing your intervention plan is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-affirming. You can justify every choice to funders, explain every strategy to teachers, and support every family with conviction.
The Gap Between Knowing and Doing
The challenges you're facing aren't unique to you.
Our survey of over 2000 paediatric OTs reveals that 83% struggle with the same core issues:
The Confidence Crisis
- Clinical reasoning uncertainty: "Am I choosing the right intervention?"
- Implementation gaps: "I understand the theory, but how do I actually apply this?"
- Imposter syndrome: "Everyone else seems more confident than me"
The Communication Challenge
- Parent education difficulties: "How do I explain interoception without losing them?"
- Professional advocacy: "How do I justify sensory approaches to funding bodies?"
- Complex case presentations: "This child doesn't fit any textbook examples"
The Practical Barriers
- Resource limitations: "I don't have a sensory gym or specialised equipment"
- Time constraints: "How do I fit comprehensive assessment into busy schedules?"
- Setting adaptations: "School-based practice has completely different demands"
When Everything Changes
What if I told you that every single challenge you're facing has been solved by OTs just like you?
What if there was a way to:
✅ Feel genuinely confident in your clinical reasoning
✅ Explain sensory processing in ways that inspire rather than confuse
✅ Create effective interventions with whatever resources you have
✅ Support complex presentations with evidence-based frameworks
✅ Advocate successfully for sensory approaches
✅ See real, measurable changes in your clients' daily lives
✅ Become the expert families can truly rely on - no more Google searches needed
This isn't wishful thinking.
This is the reality for graduates of The SenseUp Approach™ Courses - Lite and Certification.
Introducing
The SenseUp Approach
The Only Professional Development Programme That Bridges Neuroscience and Everyday Practice
The SenseUp Approach™ isn't another theoretical course that leaves you wondering "but what do I actually DO?"
It's a comprehensive transformation that takes you from uncertainty to expertise through four evidence-based levels - because #IdoTheResearchSoYouDontHaveTo
🛡️ Foundation for Nervous System Safety
Understand concepts from polyvagal theory and co-regulation principles that form the bedrock of all effective sensory intervention. Learn how to create the felt sense of safety necessary for therapeutic change.
🧠 Level 1: Integrated Sensory Processing
Learn the eight sensory systems AND understand the interconnections and integration. Discover the neuroscience behind sensory seeking and avoiding behaviours, and learn affirming assessment approaches that reveal the real story.
💪 Level 2: Sensory Motor Integration (Trauma-Informed)
Learn to support sensory motor development through child-led activities that build body trust through carefully graded interventions. Understand how trauma creates uneven development and develop the facilitation skills to sensitively support development. Trauma is something all our neurodivergent and physically challenged children may experience on a regular basis.
🎯 Level 3: Perceptual Motor Skills (Neuro-Affirming)
Support perceptual motor skills like gross and fine motor, visual spatial and ocular motor, attention and engagement. Design interventions that support identity and pride while developing practical skills for daily life. This includes discussion about accommodation vs remediation concepts.
🌟 Level 4: Occupational Participation and Self Determination
Understand the sensory contributions to occupations like sleep, toileting, mealtimes, relationship/communication and learning. Learn to support community participation, self-advocacy, and meaningful engagement in ways that honour each child's unique journey.

NICE TO MEET YOU
I am Kerry
I have identified as a 'sensory' OT since 2008. Although I had already been working as an OT for over a decade, learning about sensory processing created a monumental shift in me as a person and an OT.
I had always liked being an OT but when I started incorporating a sensory lens into my work in paeds I realised I truly loved being an OT. I had never felt as fulfilled and gratified in my work!
Fast forward 15 years with a published Masters thesis (in sensory modulation measures), immigration to Australia, and a life-threatening event - and I discovered my true calling - to teach - about sensory of course!
Now, I use what I've learned over my long and joyful OT career to support and nurture OTs who also want to be sensory-informed and sensory-affirming. I love to show OT's how they can transform their careers and their sensory clients' lives.

"I finally understand the neuroscience behind what I was seeing clinically. Parents trust me more because I can explain things with confidence, and my interventions are so much more effective because I understand what I'm actually targeting."
- Sarah, Paediatric OT, Queensland

"The SenseUp Model completely changed how I assess and intervene. I went from avoiding complex sensory cases to being the person colleagues refer their most challenging clients to."
- Michael, School-Based OT, Victoria

"I can now justify every sensory intervention to funding bodies with research evidence. My NDIS reports are stronger, my parents are more engaged, and most importantly, the children I work with are making real progress."
- Emma, Private Practice OT, New South Wales

As an already accomplished and experienced OT, TSAC has provided me with the missing puzzle pieces to feel confident in assessing and delivering OT services with a true sensory lens. Kerry is a wonderful teacher and I'd recommend this course to any new graduate or experienced therapists.
- Kate C.
Your Moment of Decision
You have three choices right now:
Choice 1: Continue as you are.
Keep feeling uncertain, keep struggling with confidence, keep avoiding those complex cases. Watch parents Google solutions while you know you should be their trusted expert. This is safe, but it's not why you became an OT.
Choice 2: Try to figure it out on your own.
Spend years reading research, attending sporadic workshops, hoping it all clicks together eventually. Some people succeed this way, but it takes much longer and costs far more in missed opportunities - and more children go without the support they need.
Choice 3: Transform your practice in the next 6 months.
Join a proven programme with 100+ successful graduates. Gain the confidence, competence, and community you need to become the practitioner you're meant to be - the expert families can truly rely on.
