The Shared Lens Workshop - Morning Session
Educators: Teachers, Learning Support Staff & School Counsellors, etc.
You are not therapists. But you are, in many ways, the most powerful person in a child's life during the school day - and this workshop will help you understand why.
If you've sat in parent meetings hearing terms like sensory processing, regulation, polyvagal, or interoception, and nodded along while quietly wondering what it all really means - this morning will make it click. We will translate the science into something practical, relatable, and immediately usable in your classroom.
You'll come to understand why some children struggle to settle, focus, or engage - not because they are naughty, defiant, or unmotivated, but because their nervous system is doing exactly what it has learned to do to keep them safe. That shift in understanding changes how you respond. And how you respond changes everything for that child.
You'll explore what it looks like to create neurologically safer spaces in your classroom - through the rhythms of the day, the sensory environment, the quality of your relationships with children, and the way you communicate with families and therapists. You'll see, perhaps more clearly than you ever have before, the power you hold.
This session is also about building bridges. The families, therapists, and support workers working with a child in your class are trying to do what's best for that child. But without a shared language and mutual understanding, those efforts stay siloed. You'll leave this day as a more confident, more connected participant in the team around the child - the round table every child deserves.
