The Shared Lens Workshop

Children do not thrive in isolation. They thrive when the adults around them understand what is shaping their behaviour, their regulation, and their participation - and can respond from the same foundation.

This morning brings occupational therapists, allied health professionals, and educators into the same room to build exactly that. A shared clinical lens. A shared language. A shared understanding of what the nervous system is doing - and what that means for the child in front of you.

Occupational Therapists

• Strengthen clinical reasoning across sensory processing, regulation and participation
• Collaborate in the shared morning workshop with AHPs and Educators

08:50 - 10:20 | Session 1: Understanding the Nervous System Behind Behaviour, Learning and Participation. Explore the autonomic nervous system, Polyvagal Theory and trauma-informed practice, with practical consideration of what nervous system states may look like in educational and therapeutic settings.

10:35 - 12:05 | Session 2: Understanding the Child Through a Shared Sensory Lens. Explore sensory processing and integration through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, and consider how sensory needs may influence behaviour, emotional regulation, learning, relationships and participation.

12:35 - 13:15 | A Shared Lens in Action: What Can I Do in My Context?
